The Duncan/Eddy Wedding Update

By this time you should have received information regarding the wedding of Cori A. Duncan to Melvin Todd Eddy. As you know we are planning a wedding to take place on Friday May 21, 1999 at Walt Disney World Resort (WDW). We hope you will be able to join us for a fun and exciting time. Our wedding will take place at the Wedding Pavilion located beside The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The ceremony will start at 2:00 in the afternoon. The Grand Floridian Resort will serve as the site for our cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dancing inside Salon IV of the Grand Floridian Resort. We will end the evening with a trip to EPCOT for a special viewing of Illuminations.

We hope this newsletter will help you plan your WDW vacation. If you have additional questions, please feel free to e-mail Todd and Cori.

Descriptions of Accommodations

Disney’s All-Star Sports Complex-

The All-Star Resorts encompass 20 three-story, T-shaped hotels with almost 4,000 guestrooms. The All-Star Sports Resort features huge sports icons: football helmets, tennis rackets, and baseball bats, all taller than the buildings they adorn. The Resort also features a baseball diamond swimming pool for its guests. The room size at All-Star Sports is 260 square feet.

Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort-

The Dixie Landings resort draws on the lifestyle and architecture of Mississippi River communities in antebellum Louisiana. Spread along Bonnet Creek, which encircles "Old Man Island"(the resort’s main swimming area), Dixie Landings is divided into two themed areas: The mansion area, features plantations style architecture, and the bayou, with tin-roof rustic wooden buildings. The 2,048 rooms at Dixie Landings each measure 315 square feet.

Disney’s Caribbean Resort-

The Caribbean Resort surrounds a 45-acre lake called Barefoot Bay. The Resort is modeled after resorts of the Caribbean islands, comprised of the registration area, called the "Custom House", and five two-story "villages" named after Caribbean islands. The atmosphere at this resort is cheerful, with buildings painted blue, lime green, and sherbet orange. The main swimming pool is thumbed as an Old Spanish fort, complete with slides and water cannons. The rooms at the Caribbean Resort are 340 square feet. in size.

As a guest at a WDW Resort, you will have unlimited access to the Disney Transportation System, early entry at the theme parks (one hour early), babysitting and childcare options, free parking, and recreational privileges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will I need to buy a ticket for the Magic Kingdom to come to the wedding?

A. No, you will not need to buy any tickets to attend our wedding ceremony and reception. The wedding is taking place in the resort/hotel area of Walt Disney World, not inside any of the parks.

Q. How do I get to the Wedding Pavilion and The Grand Floridian on the day of the wedding?

A. We have arranged for our guests to be picked up at their hotel by bus an hour before the wedding. This only applies to those that stay at a Walt Disney property. We are unable to provide transportation to guests outside of Disney. So we urge our guests to stay within the resort. Following the reception and Illuminations the buses will take our guests back to their hotels.

Q. Can I stay at a different hotel at Walt Disney World, other than ones provided for on the Save-The-Date?

A. Yes, you can stay at a resort other than the ones chosen. However, we ask that you notify us where you’ll be staying and your hotel conformation number. This will allow us to know where you are in case we need to contact you.

For Your Information

We are planning several additional events for our guests (at no cost to you). The itinerary for what we are planning is as follows;

May 20 (Thursday Evening)- Welcoming Dinner, Polynesian Luau at Polynesian Resort starting at 6:45 p.m.

May 21 (Friday Afternoon)-

Duncan/Eddy Wedding!

Ceremony will start at 2:00 and the day will end at the conclusion of Illuminations at 9:30 in the evening.

May 23 (Sunday Morning)- Farewell Breakfast, Character Breakfast at Disney’s Beach Club.

All guests (including children) are invited to attend each event. We will let you know of the definite times and locations.

Many people have asked how long they should stay at Walt Disney World.

To help you decide

  1. Take a look at the events we have planned and the times
  2. Then figure out what parks you want to visit
  3. Decide on how long you want to spend at each park
This will give you an idea on how long you should stay at Walt Disney World to do everything you want to. Todd and I are going down Tuesday night (May 18). We are planning on going to the parks all day Wednesday, Thursday (before the luau dinner), Saturday, and Sunday (after the character breakfast). We are only allowing one day for each park

Once you’ve decided how long you want to stay, you should book your airline tickets and hotel. Hotel reservations can be made on the forms that you received in the mail with the Save-the-Dates. The airline tickets can be done through a travel agent or the Internet online. Shop around to find the best price. Also, the sooner you book with an airline, the better price you’ll receive.

You will also need to make arrangements for airport transfers. If you book your airline tickets through a travel agent, he/she can arrange transfers from the airport to the resort. If you book your airline tickets online, you will need to find transportation on your own. One option is to call and make arrangements with a shuttle company. One we’ve used is Mears Transportation Service at 407-423-5566, and they can make arrangements for you. Other options are to rent a car or take a taxi. A taxi will cost about $32-$42 one way.

We suggest if you still have questions, purchase a travel guide to Walt Disney World at your local bookstore. A guide will be able to give you all kinds of information about the different parks.

We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
