This web site is devoted to our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding on May 21, 1999 at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. We were married in the Wedding Pavilion, which sits next to The Grand Floridian Resort. Our wedding started at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It was performed by Rev. Jack Day. Our Disney wedding coordinator was Kelly Lohan. We had a small wedding, with only 30 guests in attendance.
Our wedding adventure begins on Tuesday, May 18. We arrive at Orlando Airport, late due to a canceled flight. Todd (to my surprise) arranged for a limo pickup. (Okay, so I was constantly hinting how nice it would be to be picked up by a limo!) We used Tiffany Towncars and they were excellent. We were cranky from the flight so all we did was laid down and vegged in the back seat. The limo was brand new and the driver was really nice. He took us straight to the courthouse for our marriage license and waited for us. Getting the license was fun; I was all giggly and couldn't believe the time was finally here! Then off to Walt Disney World! I stayed in the Aruba complex of the Caribbean Resort with my parents. Todd and his family stayed at the All-Star Sports. Tuesday night we met with our coordinator, Kelly Lohan. Our meeting was a little too easy. Kelly was so calm and had every answer covered, her response was no problem. I didn't realize this but- I emailed Kelly with a lot of questions and every email I sent, no matter how dumb, went into our folder! She had copies of everything! I thought this was funny since I asked a lot of annoying questions. Afterwards, we went with my parents and walked around the Boardwalk Resort. I live outside Philly and we go down to the Jersey shore all the time, so it was neat to see the boardwalk done in "Disney style". We ate at a restaurant ( forgot the name) on the Boardwalk and took some pictures. We were walking along and just threw the camera at my mom and said take a picture. No posing or anything, we just happened to get the Todd and I with the Boardwalk, EPCOT Spaceship Earth and a friendship boat behind us in a panoramic shot It's one of my favorite photos.
May 19, Wednesday- Todd, Chris (my brother), and I went to MGM and EPCOT. We only wanted to do the Tower of Terror and the new test track at EPCOT. So afterwards, Todd and Chris went to Disney Quest and I went shopping (or should I say a frantic search for toasting glasses, which we forgot). Found them at a Disney Gallery store at downtown Disney then I headed back to the Caribbean. Wednesday night we met up with Todd's brother's family and hung out at the All-star, had supper and drank a couple of beers.
May 20, Thursday- Todd, my dad, and friend
went golfing. I can't remember what course. I, on the other
hand, did some last minute details. Laying out my dress, checking everything
over. I had a fight with the crinoline, it had gotten all tangled
up in itself and that took a good 30 minutes to undo.
Thursday night at 5:30 we had our rehearsal and met Jack Day for the
first time. I loved the man; he was so happy and upbeat!
It was incredible how smoothly our rehearsal went! Afterwards, we
met all our guests at the Polynesian Luau. This was a lot fun for
everyone and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about doing it.
I asked all our guests to wear Hawaiian shirts in our newsletter and they
complied. There was about 30 of us. We had two tables
reserved for us up front and Todd and I got to go on stage since we were
getting married the next day. They gave us special Lei to commemorate
our event. The food was okay but the entertainment was really neat.
After we got back from our honeymoon that's all the kids talked about that
were in our wedding party. At the end of the Luau we were filing
out and the water parade and fireworks were going off. We all just
stood on the beach enjoyed the show.
Our wedding was on Friday, May 21
at 2:00-
I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! It was
sunny and bright, around high 80's, with some humidity. My day began
around 7:00 when I took a long bath. Around 10:00, I had my hair
and makeup done for about an hour. Niki Bryan provided my beauty
services. 12:00 I slipped into my dress, well, it really wasn't that
easy. It took my mom and dad 20 minutes to do the buttons on the
back of my dress! Then we ran into the first glitch of the day- I
thought the limo was suppose to pick us up at 12:30, they didn't come until
12:50. I got a little upset, I don't know if I had the time wrong or what.
On the trip over to the Grand Floridian, we had on "All My Children".
Tad and Dixie were getting remarried, so my Dad (!) wanted to watch it!
I thought it was neat since Tad and Dixie are my favorite soap opera couple
and Dixie is suppose to be from West Virginia, were Todd and I met!
We arrived at the Grand Floridian and I had my photos done.
I had a lot of on lookers, but I didn't mind. Yes, a little girl
thought I was Cinderella and wanted to say hi, but was too shy. Everyone
was congratulating me and taking pictures of me at the Grand Floridian!
Total strangers are going to have my picture on their film!
We used DPS and our photographer was Mike Strickland. Todd and I
decided not to see one another before the ceremony. At about 1:40ish,
I climbed into Cinderella's Coach! How beautiful it was. My
mom and dad rode over with me in the carriage. A special moment was
when I was climbing into the carriage some flowers fell out of my arrangement,
rather then fret about it we threw them to two little girls watching us.
I thought that was magical. By the way, let me warn everyone
that the carriage is made out of glass and gets very hot inside the coach,
so be prepared. I thought my dad was going to have heat stroke!
As soon as I got to the pavilion they tucked me away in the brides'
chamber. I was very calm and relaxed. We did some last minute
details of fixing the dress and hair. I did peek through
the door and saw Todd lining up that's when I got excited. Then the
Disney staff came and got me. I couldn't stop smiling, I was so happy!
My dad and I lined up behind the door waiting to enter the wedding pavilion
and waited there what was I thought was an eternity. They began
to play Trumpet Voluntary, this was my grand entrance, after a few seconds,
*whoosh* the doors opened! I saw Todd and couldn't take my
eyes off of him. We had a trumpeter for my walk down the aisle; I
didn't hear a note of it. When you walk down that isle you see your
husband-to-be and everything else disappears. I felt we were the
only two in the pavilion. I took Todd's hand as soon as I got up
there, I knew everything was now perfect.
We used Jack Day and he was wonderful! We wrote our vows and
picked our readings. He was very open to our ideas and performed
a wonderful ceremony. Yes, we used Major Domo and told no one! The
poor ringbears had no idea what was going on! We had two reading done by
Todd’s brother and sister.
One reading was entitled "A Marriage"-You
are holding up a ceiling With both arms. It is very heavy, but you
must hold it up or else it will fall down on you. Your arms are tired,
terribly tired, and, as the day goes on, it feels as if either your arms
or the ceiling will soon collapse. But then, unexpectedly something wonderful
happens; someone, a man or a woman walks into the room and holds their
arms up to the ceiling beside you. So you finally get to take down your
arms. You feel the relief of respite, The blood flowing back to your fingers
and arms. And when your partner's arms tire, you hold up your own
to relieve him again. And it can go on like this for many years without
the house falling.
The second reading was “Wedding Prayer”-
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other. Now you are two bodies,
but there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place to enter into the days of your togetherness
and may your days be good and long upon the earth.
Final reading was “The Hands of the Bride and
Groom”-
Cori, please face Todd, and hold his hands, palms up, so you may see
the gift that they are to you (Bride and groom should be facing each other,
the groom's upturned hands resting in the brides'.) These are the hands,
young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your
wedding day, as he promises to love you all the days of his life. These
are the hands you will place with expectant joy against your stomach, until
he too, feels his child stir within your womb. These are the hands that
look so large and clumsy, yet will be so gentle as he holds your baby for
the first time. These are the hands that will passionately love you and
cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your
eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your
cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes: eyes that are filled
completely with his overwhelming love and desire for you. Todd, please
hold Cori's hands, palms up, where you may see the gift that they are to
you. (Bride should now place her upturned hands in the Groom's hands.)
These are the hands, smooth, young, and carefree, that are holding yours
on your wedding day as she pledges her love and commitment to you all the
days of her life.
These are the hands that will hold each child in tender love, soothing
them through illness and hurts, supporting and encouraging them along the
way, and knowing when it's time to let go.
These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through
difficult times. They are the hands that will comfort you when you are
sick or console you when you are grieving. These are the hands that will
passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime
of happiness. These are the hands that will hold you in joy and excitement
and hope, each time she tells you that you are to have another child; that
together you have created a new life. These are the hands that will give
you support as she encourages you to chase down your dreams. Together,
as a team, everything you wish for can be realized. Bless the hands that
you see before you this day. May one another always hold them. Give them
the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment.
Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their love.
May Todd and Cori see their four hands as a source of support, joy, hope
and above all else, love.
Before I knew it, we were married!
Outside the pavilion we did the dove release, which was spectacular!
They first released a bunch of doves as we kissed on the bridge leading
to the Wedding Pavilion. Then they saved two doves for us to release.
I was a little hesitant to hold the bird but it was fun to release one
with my own hands.
Then we got the traditional shower of petals from friends and family
and off in Cinderella's Coach we went. Our cocktail hour was nothing
from the usual, at Whitehall at the Grand Floridian. Dinner and dancing
was held in Salon 4. Disney did a great job with our decorations.
We used the wedding gate with fog, two columns behind the DJ and had a
canopy over the sweetheart table. We also had the castle and star
gobos on the wall. I was worried about the blankness of the walls,
but our decorations totally transformed the room. We had food stations
throughout the room. I was so excited I didn't eat anything, but
I heard the food was good. A caricature artist mingled with the guests
and drew their portraits.
During cake cutting, Minnie and Mickey arrived and we had a group picture
done with them. Minnie and Mickey also danced with us and singed
autographs. Our DJ was Jason Logan and he was really good. He played
a nice selection of songs. Then after dancing, we all took off for
Illuminations. This is where things got crazy, or should I say our
guests got a little goofy. We had to walk a ways to get to the UK
Terrace where our dessert party was. Well, every other minute our
guests would say "Mr. and Mrs. Todd Eddy, everyone!" and then they would
clap. So, people passing by would stop and clap for us, it was a
riot. We had a really enjoyable time at Illuminations. Beautiful
way to end the night. After dropping all our guests off, we headed
back to our hotel room. Todd and I got the honeymoon suite at the
Grand Floridian, room 4021. It was very romantic room to spend the first
night as husband and wife! We could see the Magic Kingdom! It was
unbelievable! Of course we were so tried we went straight to sleep.
May 22, Saturday- Rise and shine at 4 a.m.
to get ready for in park photos. I really enjoyed this and would
tell anyone if your budget allows it, do it! It was neat to go into
the park before anyone else, it was so peaceful. To think in a couple
of hours, kids would be running through looking for Mickey and Minnie gave
me a smile. Once our photos were done we headed back to our room.
That night we went to see Cirque du Soliel in downtown Disney. YOU
MUST GO SEE THIS SHOW!!! It is worth the money! It can not be described
bywords. You have to see it. Then we headed back to the room again.
This was really romantic- we ordered room service about 30 minutes before
Fantasy in the Sky was to go off over the Magic Kingdom. We opened
up the windows, pulled up our chairs and watched as Tinker Bell left the
castle to start the fireworks. We watched the whole show from our
room; it was great and very romantic.
Sunday- we met our guests at the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe.
This was fun also; the kids really enjoyed it. It was a nice way
to say farewell and thanks for coming to our guests. Todd and I left
shortly afterwards to head to the British Virgin Islands, which was a total
different experience.
We just had such a wonderful time and really want to share it with
everyone!
