Fatal Faith

Religious people often tell us we'd be better off by putting more of our faith in God than in science. Well, something that happened last year pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

I read just recently about a group of people in Mexico who were involved in an exorcism, trying to drive the devil out of somebody or other. They were doing this in a room being heated by a coal stove.

It would have benefited these folks quite a bit to have paid attention in science class, rather than focusing on faith, because they would've learned about the byproducts of burning coal. Had they learned this little lesson, perhaps they might not all have died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Once again, focusing on faith results in ignorance. And in this case, a fatal dose of it.
