Over at AllExperts.com, I'm a volunteer artisan on (among other things) the topic of atheism. In recent days, I've had multiple questions on the subject of cloning. Specifically, the questioners are wondering whether cloned humans would have souls.
I think this is absolutely hilarious... people asking an expert on atheism whether a clone will have a soul.
Naturally, part of my response is to tell them that no one, clone or otherwise, has a soul. What I have to leave out is that they should realize beforehand that this is going to be my response, the silly twits.
I have to tell you, dear visitors, that nothing in life amazes me more than human stupidity, and this whole subject of cloning really brings it out in people. I wrote an article about it almost three years ago, and everything I said then still applies now.
The public has such idiotic misconceptions about cloning, and I can't blame it all on science fiction movies. It all comes right back to the overwhelming ignorance of science we have in this country. I mean, if people can actively deny the fact of evolution, how on earth can we expect them to grasp cloning?
And who is to blame for the scientific ignorance? Largely, religion. It's a lovely cycle they've created for the rest of us to deal with: steer the masses away from science... tell them it's against God and other idiotic statements... then fan the flames of their ignorant fears whenever something revolutionary comes on the scene in science.
People complain that our schools aren't educating, and they never quite notice that their churches won't let the schools educate. And this is why we have college graduates who think evolution is baloney, that the earth is only 6000 years old, and that a human clone will be identical in every way to the original...even down to the thoughts.
Maybe we oughtta start by cloning one of these ultra-ignorant Christians. Hey, we already cloned one sheep. Maybe cloning another will help folks realize the truth about things.
