I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Anyone whose religious convictions interfere with the proper fulfillment of one's duties in the workplace is in the wrong line of work.
Take, for example, a story I read in the paper recently. A woman was attacked and raped. The hospital doctor gave her a prescription for the infamous "morning after" contraceptive pill. The first two pharmacies she went to said they were out of stock on this medication. The pharmacist at the second sent them to a nearby Eckerd's drug store. The pharmacist there said yes, they had it in stock, but they wouldn't fill the prescription.
Why? Because the medication could kill the embryo if she'd already conceived. And that went against his religious convictions.
The irony, of course, is that's exactly why the doctor had prescribed it. No woman should be forced to carry a fetus for nine months and give birth to a baby that was conceived in such a heinous act. The psychological damage alone would seriously screw up many women.
But this arrogant pill-pusher, like the majority of anti-choicers, doesn't give a damn about the mother. Only about that pinprick-sized group of cells that they claim has a soul and is a human being.
Fortunately for this woman, there was a Walgreen's across the street that filled her prescription, and she did not become pregnant. No thanks to the proselytizing pharmacist.
This man should take a job in another field. If he refuses to fill a legally prescribed medicine, he has no reason being behind that counter.
