Okay, I know I've written about this before. Twice, in fact. But I swear this will be my last article about this subject.
This is regarding the whole argument that goes like this: "I miraculously survived cancer/car wreck/carnival terror/cockroaches, etc., therefore God or an angel is surely watching over me. There's no other explanation!"
My final word on this subject:
There were something like eight attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler, primarily by Germans who could not tolerate their country being led by a madman. Many of these attempts involved bombs… which ended up killing other people, but not Hitler himself.
By the warped reasoning above, it must certainly mean that God was watching out for him! Now why would that be? Maybe God lost a bet with the Devil and needed Adolf to roast another million or so before he finally bought the farm.
There can't be any other explanation, can there? I mean, that's the only conclusion possible, given how insistent so many of these religious nuts are when they tell me their stories of how God protected them or their loved ones from this or that calamity.
Yep. That's all there is to it! Hitler thought he was doing God's work. God must've thought so, too!
