It cracks me up that I hear people anywhere, but especially here in Utah, talk about "the liberal media." I have to wonder if they're exposed to the same media I'm familiar with.
Case in point: Utah newspapers.
They're absolutely loaded with religion. Huge sections of the paper are devoted to it. Articles, announcements, etc…
Yet not one has the balls to provide even a tiny fraction of that amount of space to the freethought perspective. I should know. I've asked them about it.
And what's it like elsewhere? How many newspapers have a regular freethought column in this country? A fraction of one percent, I'd say.
Television? Radio? Loaded with religion. Any freethought? Precious little.
I'd like to see this liberal media. I really would. Oh, sure. There are liberal publications, but they constitute such a small percentage of the media that it's laughable.
Wouldn't it be great, though, just for… oh, a week… Wouldn't it be great to see a glut of freethought columns in the media, and the religious baloney relegated to next-to-nothing?
That would be almost as cool as getting to see the looks of horror on the faces of those who think we now have a liberal media.
