The Valley Forge
Masters Swim Team was formed in 1985 to compete in local and
national swim meets. At first the team only consisted of a few
competitive swimmers, since then the team has grown to encompass
many people, all of whom possess different levels of
ability.
Over the years it
has evolved into more than simply a swim team. Besides hosting one
of the largest USMS Masters swim meets in the Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
area, we also hold several social activities during the year.
These include a Summer Party, and our annual Holiday
Party.
During the week our
members swim at various locations, but on Sundays the VFM Team hosts
a morning workout.
During the summer months the practices are held at
the Upper Main Line Y in their outdoor 50 meter pool.
|
From October to May
the Sunday workouts are held at Villanova University.
The
swimming abilities of our members runs from former Division I
Collegiate swimmers to recreational lap swimmers. There are also a
number of triathletes who choose to train with us, so there is
always a lane to accommodate any ability.
Many of
our members also run, bike and compete in open water races, so if
your interests mainly run to those sports, you are sure to find
someone with whom to workout.
During
the summer, many of our members compete in many of the open water
swims held in the surrounding states.
