WebForm Script

Q: What does a WebForm script do?

A: When someone completes a form on the web, their browser collects the information, partially encodes it, and pastes it together as one long string of characters. The Formalis WebForm script decodes this string and divides it into its original components. Rather than ask you to read a tedious technical explanation of how a WebForm script does this, we've prepared a working example to demonstrate it. Visit Widget Web and try "their" form. When you submit it, it will show you what happens behind the scenes.

Q: Why do I need a WebForm script?

A: The simple answer is you don't need a WebForm script at all. The majority of surfers on the web use a browser capable of sending the form's information directly to you by email (see Widget Web for a description of this). There are also programs available that will decode forms you receive in email. If you want to know what it is like to submit a form without using a script from your browser, try our Browser Test demonstration.

Q: Why do I want a WebForm script?

A: The WebForm script is for sites that need their forms to work with any browser. If you plan to use web forms, the WebForm script can save you considerable time, but we think it is an overstatement to say that it will improve the quality of your life. The table below compares the features of the WebForm script and the browser emailing of form data.

Q: How can I use a WebForm script?

A: If you are interested in our services, we recommend that you first read Writing Forms for WebForm. (Feel free to use any of the forms on the Formalis site as a starting point for writing your own forms.) We find these steps help our customers to better identify their scripting needs and can minimize the costs of scripting services.

When you are ready to proceed, please review our Terms of Service. You can use our WebForm Order form to request that we prepare a WebForm script for you.

Q: Anything else I should know about WebForm scripts?

A: If you've read this far, you probably want to know about our fees.

Service Set up fee Change fee (a) Monthly fee
WebForm$30 $15$5
   site license (b) +$10
   non-Bee.Net customer (c)

Notes:

  1. The change fee is only charged for customer initiated changes to the scripts configuration information. It is a per occurrence charge (a change fee is charged each time the script is changed, but all changes made at that time are covered by the single change fee). A change fee is never charged to correct a configuration error made by Formalis.
  2. The standard site license covers a directory and its subdirectories on a single server. Also, all forms are emailed to a single email address.
  3. There is an additional monthly charge by Bee.Net for service to non-Bee.Net customers. This can be negotiated through Formalis or directly with Bee.Net.
